Mike Warkentin
What's goin on! Mike is a rap and hip-hop specialist at CCM Recording Studios and is a funky-ass DJ, MC, percussionist. He makes hot fire, whether it be albums, instrumentals, mix-tapes, audio explorations or whatever else comes to mind.
Mike and his brother Zach are the nucleus of the jazz-funk-hip-hop group, Broken Tongues, and are almost finished with their debut album entitled, Vocal Chords. Look out for the first single entitled, Does Hip-Hop Remember the Jazz?, in the coming months.
Mike graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Spring of 2006 with a degree in Visual Communications with emphasis in Audio Design. He toured the SE for several years performing with his old band, Dirty5Thirty, and now resides in his hometown of Denver because he believes in the budding Colorado music scene. Live, instrumental hip-hop is coming to Colorado in a very big way.
Andrew Harling
A native of Colorado, Andrew Harling has been performing live music professionally for over ten years. He also holds a bachelors of science in music technology/ audio engineering from the university of Colorado at Denver. He has studied guitar at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA, and The University of Denver and has toured nationally as a solo artist including the world-renowned Aspen music festival as a concert soloist as well. As a guitarist, Andrew has recorded several records of solo classical guitar in addition to one full length CD with his all original band Soundvice, a progressive yet straight ahead driving rock band.
Currently Andrew divides his time between teaching guitar, performing, and working as an engineer at CCM studios where he has been recording other artists professionally for several years. Specializing in working with bands in the Denver area he has tracked projects in all styles. Examples include contemporary jazz artist Sebastion Albu and his band “Golan” to hard rock bands like Social fuse and Alrashey. All are up and coming artists in the Denver metro area.
Andrew's original 4-piece band Soundvice is stuck somewhere between rock, metal, and progressive styling. The band is an original 4-piece out of Denver Colorado, consisting of Andrew Harling on guitar, Harley Briscoe on bass, Brian DeBaca on drums, and Ella Crotser on vocals. The result is a frenetic mastery - both wonderfully syncopated and oddly melodic, with Ellas voice being the driving force behind the music.
Music has always been an addiction to me - sometimes driving me to do things I have later come to regret – but then again it's as “sound a vice as I could find." – having tried them all I feel I’m an expert in the field! Vice’s that is!
